What makes a dynasty trade value chart different?

In redraft, only this season matters. In dynasty, you keep your roster year after year, so a player’s age and long-term outlook are just as important as his current projection. A dynasty trade value chart blends this year’s value with a projected career so you can compare a 23-year-old ascending receiver against a 29-year-old star and see who’s the better long-term asset. How the aging model works

Dynasty values carry a player’s production forward year by year and apply position-specific decline curves, then discount future seasons back to today. In plain terms:

  • Running backs peak earliest and lose value fastest, so their dynasty values fall off a cliff sooner than their redraft numbers suggest.
  • Quarterbacks and tight ends age the most gracefully, so they hold long-term value longer.
  • Elite players are modeled to decline more slowly than replacement-level players at the same age.
  • Youth is rewarded. Because future seasons count, a young ascending player will rank higher in dynasty than in redraft, while an aging star will rank lower.

How to use it in a dynasty trade

Add up each side as you would in redraft, but weigh your timeline heavily. If you’re contending, you can comfortably trade youth and picks for win-now production even at a small value discount. If you’re rebuilding, do the opposite — move aging stars for younger assets before their decline curve catches up. The chart tells you the market-fair value; your contention window tells you which direction to lean.

Known limitations

Because dynasty values are built from projections, a few blind spots are worth knowing: rookies and handcuffs sitting behind starters carry low current projections and can be undervalued relative to what the dynasty community pays for upside, and injuries aren’t fully captured.
